ABOUT CLARE

"Don’t draw a boundary around yourself. You are a spark of the infinite"

I  have been teaching yoga for over twenty years, but my yoga story began long before that… I was a 22 year old student living in London and looking for purpose when I picked up a copy of The Mahabharata from the dusty shelves of a book swap in a Hare Krishna restaurant and that’s when my life changed forever. It would be many years later that I first attended a yoga class and experienced the physical practice. The ancient texts had ignited a passion and devotion in me that has remained with me throughout my life and continues to be the main emphasis of my teachings today.

I first trained to be a teacher in an ashram in Southern India and have been fortunate enough to experience many different styles of yoga and movement from all over the world, namely; Hatha yoga, Sivananda, Daoist movement, Functional yoga and Yin yoga. My teachings today reflect my experiences; varied movement practices which have inspired and illuminated me, woven tightly with the sacred strands of the ancient traditions, in order to create a unique class, which I hope will prompt students to look far beyond the physical dimension of yoga. I believe that we can all discover more about ourselves and our potential than we ever dreamed possible through yoga and meditation.

I want my students to attend their classes with the intention of transcending the false narratives that often limit us from realising who we truly are. Yoga has the ability to welcome us home to ourselves and to our communities, which is why I believe in the power of practicing in a collective frequency where students can feel encouraged and supported by the other practitioners around them. It helps us to recognise that we are not alone, that we are valuable and that we each have a unique and important dharma to fulfil.

Though my sequences have changed and continue to change, one thing that remains the same is the love I discovered on the dusty shelf of a book swap in a Hare Krishna restaurant all those years ago.
